Annual Assembly, April 2016GE DIGITAL CAMERA

Downend & Bromley Heath Parish Council would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the many local groups and organisations who attended our Annual Assembly. Once again, it was a very well GE DIGITAL CAMERAattended evening and an opportunity for us to celebrate all that takes place within Downend & Bromley Heath. Our Parish Champion Awards were given to:-

  • Kustom Flooring – who have been such a tremendous help to us over the years in helping with ‘Christmas in Downend’.
  • Downend & Bromley Heath in Bloom – we look forward to seeing the avenue of flowers through Downend in the summer!

We also presented a cheque to Mike Vernon from Kingswood Community Transport, who were nominated as the Council’s Charity of the Year for 2015/16. A cheque for £515.90 was passed to KCT, this money having been raised by events throughout the year.

Christmas in Downend, November 2015

With the support of the Downend Business Community (DBC), Downend & Bromley Heath Parish Council once again arranged the Christmas Lighting Event in Downend Village.  Friday 27th November was quite an evening! Whilst the weather was kind to us at the beginning, unfortunately the heavens opened which meant that poor Santa’s grotto had to move from his gazebo to Kustom Flooring!  D&BH Parish Council would like to extend their sincere thanks to Kustom Floors who, as always, have been so supportive of our Christmas festivities. Eventually, the decision was taken to abandon the event and the Christmas tree was lit earlier than anticipated by Elsa from Frozen who braved the wind and rain. The Black Panther Allstar Cheerleaders performed in atrocious conditions and the Bromley Heath WI Choir, dressed in their tinsel, also performed on the stage. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED AND PARTICIPATED!! Whilst the whole night was filled with entertainment with children from the local schools of Christ Church, Bromley Heath and St Augustines singing their Christmas songs, balloon modelling, face painting, warm mince pies from Sainsburys and much more, the weather meant we all had to go home much earlier than anticipated. Fingers crossed for next year…..

Thank you also to everyone who made a contribution to our Charity of the Year, Kingswood Community Transport.

Christmas 2016 will be held on SATURDAY 19TH NOVEMBER!!!
