2nd August 2018

South Gloucestershire Council has confirmed that the regulation 10 requests from electors have not been fulfilled and the Parish Council can now fill the casual vacancy by co-option.

If you are interested in serving as a Parish Councillor, please send a written expression of interest to the Parish Clerk, along with a short personal statement giving reasons why you are interested in joining the Parish Council and what particular set of skills and experience you feel you can bring to the role. Please also confirm that you consent for this information to be passed on to the Parish Councillors of Downend & Bromley Heath Parish Council.

The applicant’s name must appear on the current register of electors or the applicant should, during the whole of the twelve months preceding the relevant date, have resided in or within three miles of the parish or the applicant’s only place of work during the whole of the twelve months preceding the relevant date is in the parish. The applicant must not be debarred from standing as a Councillor.

The closing date for the written submission of interest is Friday 31 August 2018.

Parish Councillors will consider submissions at the meeting to be held on Thursday 20 September 2018.

We would encourage you to talk to any of the Parish Councillors or Parish Clerk about the role.

Candidates for co-option will be required to attend the full council meeting on Thursday 20 September 2018 (7pm at Badminton Road Methodist Church) to make a short, maximum 5 minutes address to the Parish Council giving your reasons for wishing to be considered as a Parish Councillor.
